: a glimpse of the ups and downs of training for an ultra.
It's WARMish again!
Today should have been my first day back in this cold city. After a taper week, and a week of doing anything but running, I'm diving back into training knowing that it's going to be so wonderfully difficult. Time to replace the disappointment of not being able to run last week with an excitement to keep up the pace as long as it takes to get to Haiti.
Casualties of a muddy photo shoot with the talented @russ_seid. Stay tuned!
In the news!
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who made this paint night so fun and an even bigger thank you to Kurt for being an amazing teacher!

T-3 hours in Düsseldorf and I've already found a park!
Early morning 4-miler from the right bank.
Sometimes your run goes smoothly...and sometimes you find a dead end, you make a wrong turn that sends you miles in the wrong direction, and your watch dies half way through. It's called balance.
An all-morning workshop and a 13h train to Normandy mean an early morning run: autumn has definitely come to Paris!
I'll never get tired of this sunset run view.
First run with the Embassy running group today: 6 miles up the Seine with a traditional new runner stop at the Statue of Liberty.

A HUGE shout out to Robin and to Eleventh Hour Brewing for making Pints & Planks such a fun(draising) event and a big THANK YOU to everyone who attended!
Today marks the 1 year anniversary of my surgery, a procedure which kept me from running, from soccer, and from even raising my heart rate for what felt like an eternity. Fast forward through 5 months of therapy, a few long runs, and support from a pretty stellar coach and I'm weeks away from running my first ultra. Goes to show how far you can come in a year if you're stubborn enough to keep at it.
We're 2 days away from the paint night benefitting my Run Across Haiti!!!
Christmas dinner prep!
I hoped that running would help me explore Paris, but I never anticipated how much it would help me explore my own city.
Shout out to Coach Joe for giving me a hill workout!
Ask me why I'm procrastinating my run today.
I have a track again!!! It's covered in snow...but it's a track.

The positive is that I got a full 4 miles with no mud!
The first break from the rain in 3 days and I'm out on the track doing time trials. Why is this stressful?
Trying to force a slow 3 miles with this playlist. I still ran 1:30/mile faster than I wanted to, but the effort was there.
Don't be fooled by the sun. This morning's run was COLD.
Not gonna stop us!

Spent my evening trying to get lost in Le Marais.
Paris was made for people who love to run stairs: 6 miles and a bazillion stairs this morning.
A 5-mile run is a bit harder when Mamie insists you run with a stomach full of croissants and a neon parka, but it couldn't be more beautiful.
Found a track this morning! Kinda.
This is what repetition 200s looks like when you don't have a track.

Great day for a run...
Took my training to the soccer field, because sometimes you just need to kick something.
